Contributing to the NIAID Data Ecosystem
Do you want to submit data or metadata? #
The NIAID Data Ecosystem focuses solely on metadata submission. This means that while we provide a comprehensive and searchable index of metadata from various repositories, we do not store the actual datasets. Instead, the metadata we handle includes detailed descriptions of datasets, such as titles, authors, infectious agents involved, funding information, keywords, and other relevant information that help users discover and understand the data.
Data submission involves uploading datasets to a specific repository that can store the data. This may include clinical trials data, genomic sequences, or other forms of biomedical research data. Each repository has its own procedures for data submission. Metadata submission involves providing descriptive information about the datasets. This is what the NIAID Data Ecosystem uses to index the data for easy discovery. We aggregate and standardize this metadata from various repositories to create a cohesive search experience. If you have submitted data to a specific repository and its metadata is not currently included in the NIAID Data Ecosystem, you can suggest the repository for inclusion. Submit the name and a description of the repository to GitHub using the Source Suggestion template.
I have data that I want to deposit somewhere so it will be findable within the NIAID Data Ecosystem, and I’m not a member or leader of a program. #
