Accessing resources
Each resource has an individual page that provides:
- Links to access the resource from the source
- The entire metadata record, including the authors, license, description, provenance (where the resource comes from), list of files, funding, and more. Metadata for different types of resources looks different - for example, computational tools have different fields from datasets, e.g. programming language, software help, etc.
- Ability to download the metadata record
Datasets and computational tools are not stored in the Discovery Portal and must be accessed from the source.
To access the resource: #
Click the 'Access Resource' button on the upper right corner of the metadata record under the source's logo. This will open a new tab for the resource page at the source's website. From here, follow the source's guidelines to access the data or tool.
Alternatively:
- The same 'Access Resource' button is provided under 'Provenance' in the metadata record.
- Clicking the DOI link from the Discovery Portal dataset metadata record will also link to the resource information from the source website.
- 'File downloads' in the metadata record describes the data files that are available at the source. Where available, a clickable link to the data file URL is provided here. Depending on the source's conditions of access, there may be additional steps to download the file.
